Discussion of a topic in pairs, to allow more participation, especially in very large meetings.
To create an opportunity for active participation even in very large meetings by scheduling a brief discussion period.
Explain the purpose of the quick discussion and how to proceed.
There are three choices to do the discussion:
- In two minutes each person will talk about the most important idea that has been expressed and what action the organization might take in relation to it. While one person talks, the other should just listen.
- Instead of alternating as talkers and listeners, allow for four minutes of dialog. (each person has equal time of 2 minutes)
- Combine the two choices above, spend one minute apiece talking and two minutes in dialog.
Follow-Up Required: After finishing the discussion, the facilitator will lead the whole group to discuss which choice or action is the best option.
