  • Flipchart paper
  • markers and or crayons

Instructions

Before

no pre-work required

During

Refrain from using the word change in the entire workshop.  Substitute words - transformation, transition, and development over the years.

This activity is a powerful visualization of change happening over the years- have participants do three sets of drawings on flip chart paper, i.e. drawing the living conditions in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, etc.. to-date.

Give them crayons, markers to make it as vibrant as possible. Once the drawings are completed, paste them on the wall and get them to talk about the reasons for this transformation - and then it becomes plainly obvious - we're all part of an ecological system.

Factors around the whole world have changed our living environment  that we need to do something to ourselves so that we can remain relevant.

After

Usual or Expected Outcomes: reflections on changes that have happened over the past 3 decades

  • I love the way this uses visual images and talks about change without using the word. A focused conversation would work well to debrief the experience.
