A manager is leaving? Take this opportunity to let the team select the new one. 

There are several ways to do it: Team members perform interview, launch a decision process or a vote to propose the new leader, 


The decision can be done in accordance with HR and N+2.

First define in the team: The criteria. What do you want from your your manager? What will be the exact role? What do you expect?

The selection panel: Who is going to perform interviews (probably not more than 3. It is not a court), 

Prepare the interviews (get some support from HRBPs)

At the end of the interviews, perform selection activity (using for example decision by consent. Avoid voting, prefer a technic seeking for objections).

Background

​To be done in case of creation of a team or when a manager is leaving. Can also be done in a team on the way to self-organization and deciding to reorganize the way they work.
