SLIDE XX: QUOTE

"Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands."

American Psychological Society

Q. What are your thoughts/reflections about the definition?

Q. What are the challenges with the notion of resilience and bouncing back? What messages does it send…potentially?

The challenge is that it can feel like ‘you just need to toughen up and get over it, get back up and keep going’. We are going to look at it through different lenses. Yes it’s about our ability to bounce back, but we have to be careful to not judge others who don’t/can’t.

SLIDE XX: BREAKOUT ROOMS/CONVERSATION

Paired conversation (7 mins):

How resilient do you feel?

What’s working and not working about your resilience and energy?

What rating (out of 10) would you give your level of energy at work? Outside of work?

Short debrief/check-in to get a read of where people are.
