Letter yourself be affected
Goal
A fast, 5 minute activity to foster connection and inspiration in a Zoom gathering of between roughly 6 and 60 participants. It's also good for getting people comfortable with ways of sharing on Zoom and sets the group up for a much more experiential gathering.

Instructions
Tell participants to find the chat field and support them in this if they don't already know how. Tell them we're going to warm up the chat and practice sharing there by writing random words. Tell them in a minute you will say a letter and they will start free associating words that start with that letter and then you will call stop. Have cameras on and mics off as this will add to the fun. When they hear stop they will type the word they just said into the chat without hitting enter You check that everyone has typed their word and when they have you say on 3, hit enter. 1,2,3. A gush of words will appear. Then ask them to scroll back to find their word and take note of the word and the author that was immediately after yours. For the last person in the chat order, they get given a word by you the facilitator.
Tell them that word is now their perfect word of inspiration and that they're about to prove it. Tell them to take a pen an paper and write a phrase of advice for themselves that incorporates that word. Some of the words may be very unusual but say if they trust they will know exactly the personal advice they need that uses that word.
Tell them to take a moment and think about the advice and how it affects them to hear it. Again with cameras on and mics off, ask everyone to declare their piece of advice to the group.
This DID affect everyone in some way, it could've been just a silly mental challenge or it might have provided a degree of insight or encouragement or delight. Now for the final part (check everyone knows how to direct message another participant) write to the author of your word and thank them for the effect they had on you.
