Who Are You? Pretend to Be? Think I Am?

For small groups to get to know each other better

Goal

To develop a deeper understanding of others and how they are seen

Instructions

Form small groups, ideally 3-4.

Pick who will be Person 1, Person 2, etc.

ROUND 1:

Group Facilitator tells the group what to do and then starts a timer.

Person 2 asks Person 1 "Who are you?" and Person 1 responds.  Then Person 3 asks Person 1 and so on until the group facilitator calls time.

Group Facilitator tells the group what to do and then starts a timer.

Person 2 asks Person 1 "Who do you pretend to be?" and Person 1 responds. Then Person 3 asks Person 1 and so on until the group facilitator calls time.

Group Facilitator tells the group what to do and then starts a timer.

Person 1 asks Person 2 "Who do you think I am?" and Person 2 responds.  Then Person 1 asks Person 3 and so on until the group facilitator calls time.

If desired, the small group can share a group hug.

ROUND 2:

Repeat Round 1 with Person 2 being the subject of the sharing.

ADDITIONAL ROUNDS:

Repeat until each person in the group has been the subject of the sharing

LARGE GROUP SHARE:

Have all of the small groups merge into a large group.  Allow participants to express what they experienced popcorn style.

This has been a beloved exercise in our community, developed by an unknown person who has touched many through this sharing.
