Reflecting on My Entrepreneurial Mindset
Goal
This activity is designed to engage in a reflective exercise exploring the attributes of an entrepreneurial mindset. Participants will individually assess themselves on key attributes associated with entrepreneurship, reflect on personal examples, and share their insights in a supportive group setting. The focus is on personal reflection rather than sharing results directly.
Materials
Instructions
Introduction: Provide a brief overview of the key attributes associated with an entrepreneurial mindset. Invite learners to share examples for each attribute, and ensure learners have a baseline understanding of the attributes. (Review the attributes in the e-learning, or refer to Appendix A.)
Self-Reflection Exercise: Distribute the self-assessment worksheet. Invite learners to individually rate themselves on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 being “I don’t have this attribute yet”, 5 being “I’m great at this!”) for each attribute. Encourage learners to reflect on specific examples from their own experiences that demonstrate each attribute.
Growth Mindset Reflection: Once learners are done the first part of the exercise, ask them to complete the second part of the worksheet, which is to identify which of the attributes they most want to focus on developing. They should choose at least 2, but up to 4. For each attribute they want to develop, ask them to think about why they consider that attribute to be important, and whether they know anyone who is really great at it already.
Encourage learners to write down their thoughts in a personal reflection journal, or to take notes.
Remind learners that they will not have to share their worksheet results with anyone, unless they choose to.
Group Share Back: Invite learners to voluntarily share one key insight or learning from their personal reflection. Emphasize that sharing is optional, and learners can choose to pass if they are not comfortable or prefer not to share.
Debrief Questions: See questions below.
Background
Preparation
Review and print the self-assessment questionnaires or worksheets, or prepare copies on Miro.
Select case studies to profile in the discussion.
Technology Considerations
If conducting the workshop virtually, ensure participants have access to the necessary online platforms and materials. If using Miro, use the “private” mode feature to enable learners to work on their worksheets without others being able to see their responses.
Tips for Localization
Adapt case studies and examples to be culturally relevant, and encourage participants to connect the attributes with their own cultural context.
