Goal

In this activity, participants will create vision boards to visually represent their entrepreneurial goals and aspirations, fostering clarity and motivation in their goal-setting process.

Materials

    Instructions

    1. Begin by explaining the purpose of the activity, emphasizing the power of visualization in goal setting and attainment.

    2. Ask participants to gather magazines, newspapers, or any visual materials that they can use to create their vision boards.

    3. Instruct participants to take a few moments to reflect on their personal and professional goals and aspirations.

      1. Encourage them to think about specific outcomes, values, and experiences they wish to achieve.

      2. Ask them to consider what defines or would demonstrate those goals and aspirations, and also what is needed for them to take care of themselves and be well throughout their goal setting journey.

      3. Ask them if there is a person in their life that is a role model or mentor, and what characteristics that person has that they value and would like to have one day (or grow).

    4. Distribute poster boards or large sheets of paper, along with glue, scissors, and markers.

    5. Instruct participants to browse through the provided materials or their own collection and cut out images, words, and phrases that resonate with their entrepreneurial goals and represent their desired outcomes.

    6. Encourage participants to arrange and glue their chosen elements onto their poster boards in a way that visually captures their vision and goals. Participants can discuss and provide feedback to one another, fostering a sense of community and inspiration as they’re working on their vision boards.

    7. Allow participants time to share their vision boards with the group, discussing the significance of the chosen elements and how they relate to their entrepreneurial aspirations.

    8. Facilitate a group discussion about the experience of creating the vision boards, including any insights gained or discoveries made during the process.

    9. Emphasize the importance of regularly revisiting and updating the vision boards as goals evolve and progress is made.

    10. Conclude the activity by summarizing the key takeaways and expressing appreciation for participants' engagement.

    Technology Considerations

In-person implementation: No specific technology considerations.

Virtual implementation: Participants can create digital vision boards using online tools (like Canva) or collaborate on a virtual whiteboard platform (like Miro). Provide instructions on how to access and use the chosen technology, if applicable.

    Tips for Localization

    • Ensure learners are provided with Northern materials. For example, Uphere magazine, local newspapers, and other Northern imagery.

    Additional Context

    • Encourage participants to let their creativity flow and choose elements that deeply resonate with their personal entrepreneurial goals.

    • Remind participants that the purpose of the activity is to visually represent their aspirations and that there is no right or wrong way to create their vision boards.

    • Incorporating personal wellness and wellbeing into one’s entrepreneurial journey and goal setting is essential in order to be able to take care of yourself through the ups and downs.
