Goal

To generate a variety of ideas with as much divergence as possible.

Instructions

Before

Pre-Work Required: The issue needs to be carefully defined.

During

1. Ask for free-form thinking in which every crazy idea, option and possibility is welcome.

2. Add new ideas or

3. build on one already shared.

After

Follow-Up Required: Move to a convergence exercise.

  • I used this once in an outside setting under a hot sun -- we definitely got crazy ideas, but they helped us pick more viable ones later.
